In the early days it was overwhelming—every stray ectoplasmic residue in Amity Park, every distant wail from the Ghost World, registered as a jolt. Over time Danny learned to filter the noise and focus on what mattered, though the baseline hum never fully went away.

The power is not merely a proximity alarm. Danny has used it to track a specific ghost's trail of ectoplasmic residue, to sense the emotional 'temperature' of a spirit (a vengeful ghost feels sharp and hot, a lost one feels cold and diffuse), and to detect ectoplasmic contamination in objects, rooms, or even other people. It is the reason he can spot a ghost hiding in plain sight while his parents, armed with the best Fenton Tech in the world, walk right past it. In a sense, ecto-sense is what makes Danny a ghost-hunter before he even throws a single ecto-blast.

Limitations: It is involuntary and cannot be fully suppressed. In the presence of a massive ectoplasmic source—such as a powerful ghost, a Ghost World breach, or a cluster of spirits—the sense can become overwhelming, producing disorientation, nausea, or a kind of sensory overload that temporarily blinds him to other stimuli. It also has a finite range; extremely distant or heavily shielded ghosts may register only as a faint, ambiguous pull rather than a clear signal.

Upgrades or variants: There are no mechanical upgrades because it is not mechanical. However, Danny's *control* over the sense improves over the series. Early on, every stray ectoplasmic mote sets him off; later, he can filter background noise and zero in on a specific target. In rare high-stress situations the sense can spike into a near-precognitive flash, but this is an extension of the same underlying ability, not a separate power.
